March YOTA: 2 finishes!

I am happy to tell I have not 1 but 2 finishes!

Yay!

The first one I haven't mentioned I was working on, is a Christmas tablecloth by RICO.

It has so many stitches with metallic threads. (and I HATE metallics!)

I told DH if I don't finish it now I will throw it away. I want to be done with it.

And it is finished!!

Happy happy me!

Over de eerste heb ik nog niet eerder geschreven, maar dat is een kerstkleedje van RICO.

Er zitten zoveel steken met metallic garen in. (en ik heb zo'n hekel aan dat garen!)

Ik zei tegen manlief als ik dat ding nu niet afmaak gooi ik hem in de prullenbak! Ik heb er genoeg van.

Maar hij is af!!

This one was so much fun. And I think my color changes worked out great.

Deze was heel erg leuk om te doen. En ik denk dat mijn kleuraanpassingen goed gelukt zijn.

I also made a cute(if I might say so myself ;) ) little owl for myself. 

Don't know what I will do with it, but most likely I will make a key chain with it

En ik heb een leuk(al zeg ik het zelf ;) ) uiltje voor mezelf gemaakt.

Ik weet nog niet wat ik ermee ga doen, maar hoogst waarschijnlijk ga ik er een sleutelhanger van maken.

Birthday card and IHSW

Hi everyone,

Last week I received a birthday card from Nicole.

It had some trouble getting here, but at last it found its way to my house.
Thank you, Nicole!

Take a look at my floss toss, so pretty! 

Last weekend was also IHSW. But that didn't really go as planned, so not much stitching done.

I did stitch another cat or two:

And picked up my Dimensions. It's getting close to finishing!

(If you look closely, you can see I already used some floss I got for my birthday! It's the variegated one)

I am really happy with it, except for the yellow. 

I was really looking forward to doing the french knots(I love 'em!),

but I don't know, not really happy with it.

I think I might frog it and use another color yellow.A bit brighter.

I have also been knitting. I find it easier on the eyes (who have been bothering me lately).

I finished a shawl for a friend who is just mad about skulls. When I saw this pattern I knew I had to make it for her. I hope she will like it.

I also made a shrug for my mother.

And last but not least.

I will pick up Chatelaine's Herbularius again!

You might have already noticed the Stitching Bandits badge on the side bar.

Joyce from Random Ramblings organised it for us weenies who need a little encouragement to finish (or stitch on) our Chatelaines. :p

Other than that, my mind is just overflowing with creative ideas. 

...

But nothing is coming out of my hands. 

??

I don't know if it is the will to finish some(read most) of my WIP's 

or my complete lack of energy

or maybe even the amount of ideas that is keeping me from doing anything

but it is not nice.

So, tips anyone?

How do I get those ideas out of my head and into action?

It's my birthday, it's my birthday!

Well, Saturday it was actually.

I joined Cath's birthday thread exchange.

It is the first exchange I ever joined. And it was(and still is) so much fun!

YOTA 2014

It's YOTA-time again!

I am happy with the progress I am making on Magnificent Wings.

I have even finished a page!

and the next page is very small so that one will be finished soon too.

I finally start to get the feeling that I am getting somewhere with her.

Can you believe that I started her in 2008! She definitely is my longest project.

Ik ben heel tevreden met de vooruitgang die ik boek met Magnificent Wings.

Ik heb zelfs een pagina af!

En de volgende pagina is maar heel klein, dus die zal ik ook wel snel af hebben.

Hèhè, eindelijk begint het ergens op te lijken. 

Wist je dat ik deze al in 2008 begonnen ben?!

Poe, ik heb nog nooit ergens zo lang over gedaan.

IHSW

Last weekend was ISHW again. DB had to work all weekend so I had some stitching time all to myself.

I am working on a few different things. No HAED's.

I have been practicing my satin stitch.

I have a Dimensions kit to do so.This one:

Afgelopen weekend was het ISHW. Manlief moest werken dus ik had lekker wat borduurtijd voor mezelf.

Ik ben nu met een aantal dingen bezig, geen HAED's trouwens.

Ik ben oa mijn platsteek aan het oefenen. Weer eens wat anders dan kruissteekjes.

Ik heb een Dimensionspakket om te oefenen:

But when I stitched just the green and the blue I thought it looked much better then with all the colors. So I changed the colors a little. Going one step at a time, but really enjoying the process.

Maar toen ik al het groen en blauw had gedaan, vond ik dat eigenlijk zo mooi dat ik besloten heb omde kleuren te veranderen. Ik doe het nu stukje voor stukje en vind het erg leuk om te doen.

I also finished the e-reader sleeve I made for my sister:

Ik heb ook de e-readerhoes die mijn zusje mij vroeg te maken afgemaakt:

I used a cutting die for the little owl and added some stuff.

Sewed it on in the right order this time! :)

Ik heb een stencil gebruikt voor het uiltje en verder nog wat dingetjes toegevoegd.

Ik heb het wel in de juiste volgorde opgenaaid dit keer! :)

And last but not least, in order to reduce my number of WIP's (and stash),

I picked up my 100 cats and a mouse. A Elsa Williams kit.

En, als laatste, in een poging om mijn aantal projecten (en voorraad) te reduceren, heb ik de 100 katten en een muis, een pakket van Elsw Williams, ook maar weer opgepakt.

I started it, did not even finish one cat, but disliked it very much. 

The thread looks cheap, the coverage is awful (16 cnt aida stitched with only one thread)

But. I started it, so let's finish it.

I finished the first cat and to my surprise, I liked it!

 It's a weird little cat, but I like him.

So I stitched some friends for him.

It's easy stitching. 

And a lot of mini finishes which is really nice when you have some mojo-issues! ;)

Ik was eraan begonnen en had nog niet 1 kat afgemaakt, maar ik vond het helemaal niks.

Het garen ziet er goedkoop uit en je moet maar met 1 draadje borduren op 6- draads aida.

Maar ik was het begonnen, dus toch laat ik het toch maar afmaken dan.

Ik maakte de eerste kat af en tot mijn verbazing vond ik hem eigenlijk toch wel leuk!

Het is een beetje vreemde kat, maar toch wel grappig.

Het is makkelijk borduren en je hebt snel steeds weer een katje af, wat ook wel lekker is zeker als het borduren niet zo wil vlotten allemaal.

Dus hier wat plaatjes:

YOTA 2014

In order to get some of my WIP's finished (right now they all feel like UFO's), I decided to take part in YOTA 2014.

Yesterday was quite busy, so I didn't get around to posting. But here is my YOTA update.

I choose Magnificent Wings as my SAL piece and I hope to get a lot of progress on her this year.

So this is where I was:

November IHSW

This weekend was IHSW. 

DB had some friends over, so that gave me some time for myself to stitch.

Very nice.

I can even see another page finish coming. :)

Mijn lief had een aantal vrienden te logeren, dus dit gaf mij wat tijd voor mezelf zodat ik lekker kon borduren.

Heerlijk.

Good news: stitching bug found!

IHSW August

I had a lovely IHSW. DH was away for the weekend, so I had some time to myself. And...

I have an actual page finish on Magnificent Wings! 

Because I am following forms rather than pages, I don't have many page

finishes yet, this is the third one. 

But I am contemplating if I will switch to finishing row by row (pages that is). Don't know yet. 

Anyway, here is my update:

Ik had een heerlijk IHSW weekend. Manlief was een weekendje weg, dus ik had lekker wat tijd voor mezelf. En....

Ik heb zowaar een pagina af!

Omdat ik bij dit patroon de vormen volg ipv de pagina's, heb ik nog niet zoveel pagina's helemaal klaar, dit is pas de derde. Hoewel ik nu toch overweeg om eerste de bovenste rij af te maken voor ik weer verder naar benenen ga. Ik weet het nog niet.

 And I finished my father's tablet cover. 

En ik heb de tablethoes voor mn vader afgemaakt:

I made so many mistakes with this, clearly I am a beginner at embroidery and sewing!

But, I still like how it turned out.

And my sister asked me to make a cover for her e-reader, so it must look pretty good! {insert big smile}

I guess I now know what mistakes NOT to make! :)

Ik heb echt aardig wat fouten gemaakt tijdens het maken van deze hoes, ik ben duidelijk slechts nog een beginner met dit soort borduren en naaien!

Toch ben ik tevreden met het resultaat.

En mn zusje heeft me gevraagd om een hoes voor haar e-reader te maken, dus hij moet er wel goed uit zien! {grijns}

In ieder geval weet ik nu welke fouten ik NIET moet maken! :)

Magnificent Wings

Hi everyone,

Ahh, the temperature is finally down here in Holland. Sunshine is very nice, but I guess I am too much of a northern girl to enjoy these high temperatures! I get nothing done when it's over 26°C.

Now it is raining and the garden is enjoying it very much. 

Poe zeg, eindelijk is het niet meer zo warm! Zonneschijn is heerlijk, maar als het boven de 26° wordt, dan komt er niks meer uit mn handen hoor. Te weinig zuideijk bloed denk ik. 

Nu regent het hier en de tuin is daar erg bij mee.

Back to stitching.

Terug naar het borduren.

Herinneren jullie je Magnificent Wings nog?

I haven't stitch on her in ages. But I picked her up again.

She is really nice to stitch. Not to complicated, though stitching black on black is a challenge in itself.

So here is my progress:

Ik heb er heel lang niks aan gedaan, ben nu heb ik haar weer tevoorschijn gehaald.

Ze is echt fijn om te borduren. Niet zo ingewikkeld, hoewel het zart op zwart ook best een uitdaging is.

Dit heb ik gedaan:

Maybe not so much, but I am happy with every bit of progress.

Misschien niet zo veel, maar ik ben toch blij met elke vooruitgang.

I also stitched a bit more on Berry Branches. Finished the top row and started the next one:

Ben ook nog bezig geweest met Berry Branches. De bovenste rij is af en ik ben aan de volgende rij begonnen:

And I am working on a little project for my father. I am making a cover for his tablet with the logo from his favorite soccer club. It is going to be in his favorite color, bright red. 

I am now working on the logo. I made it from felt and I am stitching the letters. It is quite difficult to get the lettering to look good! But embroidery is something new for me, so I think I am doing ok.

En ik ben nog met een leuk projectje bezig voor mijn vader. Ik maak een hoesje voor zijn tablet met het embleem van Feyenoord. In zijn favoriete kleur brandweerrood.

Ik ben nu bezig met het embleem. Het is echt moeilijk om de letters een beetje netjes te krijgen! Maar aangezien ik nog maar een beginner ben met dit soort borduurwerk, vind ik het er best ok uitzien.

I am thinking of starting a new one. I made myself promise not to until I finished something, but my health is not so great atm and I noticed that all this confetti is very hard for me to do. So I would like to have something to stitch which is less complicated. Magnificent Wings is less complicated, but is sitting on a frame, so I can't stitch it when I am on the couch and that is where I have to spent most of my time.

Hmmm, maybe I will try to stitch around the confetti first. See how that goes.

Ik denk erover om een nieuw werk te starten. Eigenlijk had ik mezelf beloofd om dat niet te doen voordat er iets af is. Maar ik merk dat ik momenteel erg moeilijk door de confetti heen kom en ik zou graag iets makkelijkers borduren. Magnificent Wings is makkelijker, maar dat zit weer op een frame, dus ik kan dat niet op de bank doen waar ik deze dagen toch de meeste tijd door moet brengen,

Nou ja, misschien kan ik nog om de confetti heen borduren ofzo. Eerst dat maar proberen toch.

De laatste maanden waren niet makkelijk, maar dat ik nu het borduren weer oppik, maakt me erg blij.

Nog geen foto's, ik ben een beetje roestig geworden en moet eerst alles weer even op een rijtje zetten.

Dus vraag ik jullie om nog een klein beetje geduld, dan beloof ik snel met meer updates te komen!

Hello everyone!

It has been a while. 

I haven't stitched a lot the past months, but now I am starting again.
(stitch pic at the end)

How I lost my mojo? 

Something ate it.

It's hairy and has big teeth....

No, no monster, 

...although..

Let me introduce Baxter:

at 6 months

The world's worst puppy.

Don't be fooled by his handsome looks.
Off course, every puppy is a handfull, but Baxter goes to the extreme in everything.
Extremely happy, extremely fearfull, extremely chewy, extremely loud, extremely annoying.

Baxter knows what he wants.

For starters, your attention. 24-7

If he doesn't get it, he will scream.
Really. Not just bark, scream.

And believe me, it will hurt.

He also likes to dig.

Preferably in the spot you just tidied up.

He is selectively deaf.

He prefers not to hear us, listening to your people is for losers.
However the tiniest sound of the cookie jar does not elude him.

He does not want to come near you, always stays at least an arm's length away.

His biggest hobby is eating stuff.

Food, toys, furniture, rugs, plastic, rubber, my mojo, shoes, grass, plants, dead fish, and his favorite: poo. No distinction made between dog's, cat's, goose, duck and yes, human.

And besides all of this, he is extremely fearfull as soon as he leaves the house. 

He's afraid of everything. The grass, the wind, the rain, the dark, people, kids, every sound he hears, everything that moves, any unusual object.

Especially with other dogs. If they come close, he will panic and snap at them.

And yes, he did come from a respectable breeder.

But. 

Now he is 8 months old. And with a lot of love and patience his fearfulness is gone. 

(We are still working on his dog issue though.)

He has realised that listening to your people is actually a smart thing (most of the time).

He has also learned that screaming will get you nowhere, that not everything is edible or at least, not appreciated when chewed on, that a streched out arm or hand means something nice is about to happen like a cuddle or a treat or a game, that being alone is temporary and ok, that being outside is actually very nice, and even that all dogs do not come to eat you, but that you can also play with some of them.
He has come a long way and we are so proud of him.

And now we have a smart, funny, energetic, self-confident, happy and sweet doggie! 

And cute too!

So, I picked up Berry Branches. I am working on the second page:

stitched on 18 cnt aida, 2 over 1

I don't mind stitching all the black, it's easy stitching.

 I wanted her hair to be really black so I choose to stitch with two threads on 18 count aida in stead of my usual 20 count. I really like the result.

And Creativity is finished!
